This boot is constructed very strangely. The footbed is wide enough to accommodate a thicker sock, but the opening of the boot is too narrow to get a thick-socked-foot in. The side zipper doesn’t go all the way down, so getting your foot in (thick socks or not) is challenging. You have to loosen the laces every time; this is not a “set the laces and just unzip” kind of boot. To get your foot in, the laces have to be very loose, but if you leave the laces that loose after you zip up, the closure isn’t tight enough to keep your heel down on the footbed. So you have to tighten the laces again after zipping up. I don’t know why they designed the boot like this. If the zipper had gone all the way down to the footbed, this probably wouldn’t be an issue. As it is, the zipper on this boot is useless and you should count these as manual lace-up boots.That all said, the quality is great and the look is exactly what wanted. They’re cool, but also sophisticated.I’m hoping the leather will break in over time and maybe putting them on won’t be such a hassle anymore, but that likely won’t happen any time soon. Just know what you’re getting into.
